Oberstleutnant Raubvogel was the main antagonist of DLC mission Save Churchill. He was an Elite German Sniper, and the orchestrator of the plot to assassinate Winston Churchill.

Character[]

Raubvogel is the first enemy sniper to be an actual character and integral to the plot in the Sniper Elite series. He is very skilled and employs some of the same tactics as the Karl Fairburne, such as explosive traps. He is armed with a scoped Gewehr 43.

He is defended by a team of sniper bodyguards in an elaborated labyrinth riddled by traps guarded by snipers on overwatch.

Personality[]

Raubvogel sees his exchange with Fairburne as a personal dispute and a challenge measuring both snipers' skills. He sets a trap for Karl in the Siwa Oasis (then occupied by the Italians) and leaves a note in a tent as a bait for Karl to be ambushed by his elite Schutzvollstrecker unit. He was also very confident in his skills as a sniper, setting up a note to taunt Karl when he reached his position in his lair, though being ultimately bested in the end by Karl, who claimed Raubvogel's mask as a trophy.

He was a very meticulous planner and had several methods of execution planned for Churchill.

Appearance[]

Raubvogel is identifiable by his metal mask and chest armor from World War One, those giving him better resistance to bullets, necessitating more than one shot. Behind his mask you can see white hair.

Trivia[]

  • Raubvogel means "Bird of Prey" in German.
  • An alternative translation is "The Raptor".
  • Raubvogel wears a sniper mask and chest armor from WW1.
  • His age indicates he is a veteran of The Great War.
  • In Sniper Elite 5 a painting of Raubvogel can be found in a secret room in the mission Rubble and Ruin.
